CPRPrompt-Child is a mobile app that when downloaded provides trained rescuers digitized voice prompting to recall cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) procedures and timing for babies during the stress of emergencies. CPR is a procedure created in 1972 designed to restore normal breathing after cardiac arrest that includes the clearance of air passages to the lungs, mouth-to-mouth method of artificial respiration, and heart massage by exertion of pressure to the chest. This app also provides voice prompting for babies who are choking in what is commonly referred to as the Heimlich maneuver.
Immediately after the Start Button is keyed the prompting voice presents a warning that must be adhered to, "These prompts are for persons trained in CPR. Untrained rescuers may harm victim." Users of the CPRPrompt-Child app are also reminded to seek a doctors advice, if available, when using this app and before making any medical decisions.
